World Bank to clean up Bangkok

Bangkok authorities have asked the World Bank to help finance their fight against Bangkok’s pollution problems. The campaigns may start in the downtown areas of Silom and Sathon roads, both heavily used by commuters.

Bangkok’s governor, Mr. Apirak Kosayodhin recently met with World Bank officials to discuss help with financing these projects. Mr. Apirak recently attended a climate summit in New York, and the World Bank has promised to support global warming projects worldwide.

After his meeting with the World Bank officials Mr. Apirak said plans will be completed by the end of June, 2007. Additional talks will take place between Bangkok officials and the World Bank shortly.

Speaking as a resident if there was any money designated then it has not made any difference to the pollution. Traffic and exhaust fumes are still rife.
