Calypso Cabaret at Bangkok's Asia Hotel has the largest performing Ladyboy troupe in Bangkok. The show is a mixture of Thai, Asian and Broadway theatre performances. It is mainly attended by tourist groups, including those from all over Asia. The theatre at the Asia Hotel provides a comfortable, atmospheric setting for the show. Calypso is internationally renowned, and is highly recommended by this writer.
Calypso's trademark is its creative choreography, which brings out the best in its 50 professional actors and "actresses." If you plan to see Calypso while in Bangkok, the show will provide a memorable experience to take home with you. It is undoubtedly one of Bangkok's must see shows for tourists. Full of life, professional, colourful, exotic, Calypso is a show with a real difference, and more.
From its extravagant opening, Calypso takes you on an energetic, entertaining, emotional journey through the land of song and dance, where the show's actors and "actresses" present a Chinese ballad; Carmen Miranda; Marilyn Monroe, Michael Jackson and Tina Turner; Josephine Baker, Calypso's newest production; a comical Geisha; Fantasy of Thailand, where classical Thai dance is given a special Calypso twist; my personal favourite, Arirang, where 9 lovely "girls" perform a Korean love song; All that Jazz, where 16 stunning guys and "gals" perform this hit musical; a Japanese love song with a touching melody; and, of course, the finale, where the Calypso performers go into overdrive, with the whole troupe on stage. After the show, the performers pose for photos, so you can take away a lasting memory of the evening and Bangkok's fabulous Calypso Cabaret.
